Parenting in Islam

“Parenting in Islam”

A 9 week course presented by

Sh. Riyadh Walls

  1. The honour of being a parent in Islam. There r only 2 sins punishable in this life before the next and they are [ 1] Oppression and [2] Mistreatment of parents. So many times Allah and our beloved prophet enjoin upon us to be kind and dutiful to our parents. Indeed it is an honour to be a parent but with it comes a great responsibility.
  2. Children are a gift as well as a trial from Allah. Allah has blessed us with children and has made it part of the adornment of this world yet we find that with this great gift there is an even greater test and trial. Do we endeavour to pass this test and be the best parents we can be for the sake of Allah.
  3. The Role of The Father. As fathers it begins with us. We have to fear Allah first and set the practical example for our wives and our children to follow. How do we do justice to this phenomenal task.
  4. The Role of The Mother. As for the Mothers their laps are the first university of the child. If deen comes into her life it embraces the entire home. She is the family’s pillar of strength and paradise lies under her feet
  5. Faith Education. Engraving the kalimah onto their hearts
  6. Ethical Education. No father has given their child any better gift than good manners. [hadith]
  7. Intellectual Education. To seek knowledge is incumbent on every muslim [hadith] reclaiming the sciences and developing them further for the benefit of mankind an Islamic duty on us all.
  8. Physical Education. The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer [hadith]
  9. Spiritual Education. Polishing the hearts of our children
  10. Parenting in the ‘Real’ World. How do we implement all this knowledge in the 21st century, with all the doors of vice flung wide open and our children are the targets. We need to act know!
