This workshop focuses on the basic concepts of the Islamic Inheritance Law, principal elements of asset distribution and the key features of an Islamic will.

The technical aspects of writing a will, maintaining proper documentation, and executing the last will and testament of an individual will be covered.

The significance and wisdom underpinning the Islamic distribution of inheritance will be discussed together with several relevant case studies that require application of basic formulas for asset division among the legal inheritors.

2. Analysis of the workings of the Shariah (for an understanding of the philosophy behind Inheritance in Islam)
3. Development of legal systems
4. Position of Inheritance in the Shariah
5. Importance of ISLAMIC Inheritance
6. Modern Challenges facing Islamic inheritance
7. Overview of all recognized heirs in Islamic Inheritance
8. Analysis of the verses pertaining to inheritance from the Quran and Sunnah
9. Study of the Universal Heirs and their stipulated shares
10. A complete presentation of calculating any possible estate scenario from start to end.
11. Will: Importance, How to formulate an Islamic Will
12. Format in S.A law and the Consequences on Islamic Inheritance
13. Questions and Answers

The workshop will require participants to learn the laws, shares, calculations and rules of distribution, which will be examined weekly and thoroughly at the end of the workshop.

Upon successful completion of the examination of this course, the participant will be certified by The Istiqamah Institute to legally (under Islamic Law) to oversee the correct distribution of an estate in any of the possible scenarios that may be presented within a normal circumstance (provided that he/she abides by the regulations as expounded upon in this training workshop.)

Course Presenter:

Moulana Irshaad Sedick is a graduate of and teacher at the Dar al-‘Ulum al-‘Arabiyyah al-Islamiyyah in Strand, Western Cape. He currently runs and directs the Dar al- Mahamid Educational Institute and The Istiqamah Institute which focuses on world class Islamic educational courses. He has eight years teaching experience in formal part-time Islamic education at some of the leading institutes. He regularly appears on ITV, Top TV as well as reflections of faith on SABC. He is often hosted on the airwaves of the local community radio station, VOC and his programs are played daily.

  • Cancelling your place – If you notify us in writing (via letter, email or fax) up to 7 days before the start date of a course, you will receive a full refund of the course fee.
  • If you fail to attend the course on which you are booked and have not given prior notice to us then the course fee will remain payable in full and no transfer will be allowed.
  • We reserve the right to cancel any course because of low registration or events beyond our control. In the unlikely event of cancellation, students will be notified and offered the option to switch to a different course or receive a full refund.
